In the infamous city of lights, Lighting Designer Ron Harwood of Illuminating Concepts served as the Executive Lighting Designer on the $8.7 billion MGM City Center, Las Vegas. Ron led and implemented the project-wide lighting package that spanned over 20 million sq ft and totaled over $170 million.
PROJECT SCOPE: During the construction of the luxury 47-story Mandarin Oriental hotel, the lighting designers were tasked with creating an illuminated ceiling glow from customized formed metal ribbons that were attached to the ceiling for architectural detail. This sizeable architectural element not only needed to be illuminated with ceiling pocket illumination but also along the formed metal decorative wall.
